Get to Know Us!
POCIS (People of Color in Independent Schools) Seattle is a consortium of independent schools, and it exists to help people of color thrive in independent schools. Students of color can be found in all POCIS Seattle schools throughout our region — and we hope that more students and families will join us!
Schools in NWAIS (the Northwest Association of Independent Schools) select students through an admissions process that extends over the course of one year. Every May, POCIS Seattle offers an admissions event for parents and families who are interested in exploring independent K-12 schools, in the POCIS Seattle consortium. By holding this event, we hope to connect families to the independent school admissions cycle. Some schools will have limited spaces available for the coming year, while other schools will counsel families to apply the following year.
If you’re interested in exploring POCIS Seattle schools, and learning if one or more of them might be a good fit for your child, we invite you to sign up to attend our virtual admissions information session, held every May. Click the button below to sign up or scroll to the sign-up form on this page.
Many Schools, Common Value
The NWAIS-accredited schools of POCIS Seattle have distinct personalities, teach a variety of grade ranges and employ curricula and teaching methods that align with their missions. What we have in common, though, is a belief in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We feel confident that you’ll find a good match (perhaps several!) for your child.
