Are you passionate about building connections and fostering a vibrant community? Open Window School is looking for a dynamic Community Engagement Manager to join our Advancement team!


The role: The Community Engagement Manager is a vital member of the Open Window School’s Advancement team, a department encompassing fundraising, parent/guardian relations, marketing, and communications. This role is essential for building trust with the entire school community through authentic and clear communication, connection, and engagement. The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for key Advancement events, including the annual auction, supporting parent communications, and managing the PGA volunteers. This role collaborates closely with the entire Advancement team and reports directly to the Director of Institutional Advancement and Strategy. This job has three primary functions:


40% – Special events coordination and support

40% – Manage PGA volunteers

20% – Parent communication


What you’ll do:

  • Event Management: Plan, manage, and coordinate key events including, the annual fundraising Auction, which raises approximately $400-$500K for the school. Other events include the New Parents’ Reception, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and volunteer appreciation.
  • Manage PGA Volunteer Program: Manage annual PGA volunteers, providing guidance training, regular communication, and clear expectations.
  • Parent Communications: Serve as the liaison for parent communications, creating content and maintaining parent-facing portals.
  • Content Collection & Creation: Capture and edit photo/video content for our marketing platforms.

  2. Like throwing parties and thinking about all of the details: Not only do you love to think about how to make this year’s fall festival the best hoe-down to date, but you will have tripled checked the name tags and you travel with duct tape and scissors.
  3. Inspire and Motivate: Managing a group of volunteers requires not just coordination but genuine inspiration. You are passionate about motivating and empowering volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and integral to our mission. Your leadership fosters a collaborative and enthusiastic environment where every volunteer knows their contributions make a meaningful difference.
  4. Are a people person! OWS has a diverse community of parents and educators. And you want to get to know them all and hear all of their unique stories.
  5. Are a team player: It may be overused, but it’s definitely needed. The Advancement team is a well-oiled machine, and we need you to be a critical component in its success.
  6. Are organized & adaptable: You have strong organizational skills to juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast-faced environment with ease.

This role has a salary range of $68,000 to $78,000.


Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3+ years relevant experience.

Other Skills: 

  • Serial social media user who can show a deep understanding of key platforms and create and edit content to engage parent community.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient user of Microsoft Office, and a willingness to learn other relevant programs (e.g. Ravenna).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
