After Care Assistant
Open Window School is looking for one person to join our After Care (K-4) Program for the rest of the 2023-24 school year. We encourage you to apply if you love working with school-age children and have initiative, energy, flexibility, empathy, attention to detail, the ability to collaborate, and a commitment to teamwork. To be successful, you will enjoy working with students of various ages, creating interactive activities, and getting to know our students for the amazing individuals they are. You will report to the Auxiliary Programs Manager and be part of a team of four.
Major Areas of Responsibility/Specific Duties:
- Assisting with the After Care Program for Kindergarten through Fourth Grade students.
- Ensuring that there is a diverse group of activities for students to choose from.
- Providing Auxiliary Programs Manager with regular feedback regarding students in the program.
- Acting as a liaison with parents.
- Supervise student play outside in various kinds of weather.
- Working with the Auxiliary Programs Manager in ordering supplies for the After Care Program.
- Organizing and maintaining the After Care areas.
- Following behavioral and safety policies in alignment with school policies.
- Working with the Auxiliary Programs Manager and Auxiliary Programs Director to ensure all components of the
- After Care Program follow appropriate school guidelines.
- Build students’ confidence and self-esteem as you come to know them as learners and individuals.
- Other duties as needed and assigned.
Qualities & Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary school students (preferred).
- Well-qualified candidates will have completed courses towards earning, or have earned, an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent cultural competency, willing and able to excel to work with multiple groups of people from diverse backgrounds.
- Maintain cordial, flexible, and professional relationships with colleagues and parents.
- Ability to work independently, collegially, and collaboratively. Positive team member.
- Maintain current First Aid/CPR qualifications (Open Window will pay for training if you do not have a current qualification).
- Supports our mission statement to nurture and inspire students of high intellectual potential.
Position Details:
Manager: Auxiliary Programs Manager
Compensation: $24 per hour
Position Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt, not benefit eligible
Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:00- 6:00* PM (15 hours per week) *may occasionally require staying later if a parent is late to pick up their child
