The Opportunity
The Facilities Technician will assist with the daily operation and upkeep of the school’s single-campus facilities, including the maintenance of the physical condition of school property, event set-up and breakdown, traffic control, and other tasks required to keep the school running safely and smoothly. This position reports to the Associate Director of Facilities Daily Operations.
Position Details
This is a salaried, non-exempt (hourly), 1.0 FTE full-time, benefits-eligible position beginning immediately. Salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 per year. The job follows a 12-month schedule, working Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an unpaid one-hour meal break each day. The position requires working during the summer months and some school breaks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct daily maintenance and inspection of campus facilities including but not limited to electrical and plumbing maintenance and minor repair, classroom maintenance and repair, daily checks and disposal of campus trash and debris, weekly cleaning of school vehicles, and daily sweeping of high traffic areas.
Serve as school carpenter to design, construct and repair small wood projects; hang pictures; assemble new furniture and classroom and office equipment.
Secure and close school property after the end of each school day, ensuring all windows and doors are shut and locked.
Conduct safety inspections of playground and campus areas to look for and quickly fix hazards, make needed repairs, and fix or replace any loose or damaged equipment.
Set up and break down equipment and materials for school events held outdoors and inside the classrooms, theater and gym.
Assist IT with moving and installing phone equipment.
Stock and move school equipment and supplies; maintain break room coffee appliances and supplies.
Exterior campus cleanup such as blowing leaves, removal of debris from roofs and gutters, pressure washing sidewalks and other exterior spaces, snow shoveling, and cleaning windows.
Work with extension ladders and on roofs and other high spaces.
Deliver packages to classrooms and offices.
Other duties as assigned.

A high school diploma is required.
Able to legally and safely drive school vehicles and transport students: Must have valid driver’s license.
Experience working in a school is a plus.
Can speak English confidently and clearly.
Comfortable and safe using hand and power tools.
Able to take direction well and work independently.
Can successfully manage time to complete assignments accurately and safely and meet deadlines.
Consistently report to work on time and is seldom absent from work.
Can establish clear boundaries and relate well with co-workers, with a professional and positive approach in the workplace.
Legally able to work in the US; there is no sponsorship available.
Successfully pass a nationwide background check.
Physical Requirements
Able to lift 50 pounds; can move around campus, stand for long periods of time, walk and climb stairs; safely use tall ladders, twist/squat and bend to get into tight spaces.
Can work inside and outside, especially in frequent bad weather conditions.
